About

The local impact of migration in rural and mountain regions.

Project Outcomes

– In rural regions immigration can meet economic needs and counter depopulation and dwindling birth rates.

– In all regions considered, depopulation has created employment opportunities (often low skilled) for third country nationals.

– None of the regions considered had proper employment programmes for third country nationals. Faster recognition of formal, informal and non-formal qualifications and long-term practices such as tailored trainings can help address this gap.
