Major investments by funding agencies across Europe in migration research are accompanied by a widespread sense that the impact of this research on policies is limited. In wider public debate, migration has become highly politicised and the rise of misinformation and disinformation has questioned the meaning of evidence and value of expertise.

This event will draw from new research and the experiences of researcher and research users to propose effective strategies to build more effective engagement between migration research and policy. It will present a new resource created by the Migration to Policy Co-Lab project that brings together in a unique resource a wide variety of engagement methods to help researchers and researcher users build more effective engagement. This will be followed by a panel discussion with three expert speakers who will provide their own perspectives on the troubled relationship between evidence, facts and information, on the one hand and an increasingly polarised and contested public debate on migration, on the other.

The aim of the Migration to Policy Co-Lab is to facilitate the joint work of policy-makers, practitioners and researchers to create solutions for today's migration challenges.

This Co-Lab is the result of 12 partner institutions pooling their resources through the Horizon Europe-funded INNOVATE project to bridge the gap between research and policy.
